Marinda has worked in a wide variety of roles across Sales, Marketing and Relationship Management and is passionate about her areas of expertise. Her first real adventure into the “unknown” wider world resulted in a two year stint with Celebrity cruises, working in the Caribbean and the Baltics in Europe, in a variety of roles. Her relational and people management skills were Identified at an early age demonstrated by her appointment at the age of 22, as Head Waitress/ assistant Matre’D on the MV Constellation, a cruise ship with 2,000 passengers and 1,500 staff!
She has held numerous posts in the sales arena in the Motor Industry and more recently was appointed as Business Development Manager for MixTelematics, where she was successful in opening up company branches in Cape Town and Durban.
Marinda demonstrated her entrepreneurial skills and proactivity when she had two young children and became frustrated with the inadequate supply of high quality domestic help. She had the business savvy to see the huge need for a professional service and established a recruitment placement and training business called
“Nannies in Training” with branches in Fourways, Johannesburg and Pretoria, which she still operates as the founder and owner today.
Marinda’s skillsets in business management, searching, resourcing and skills development has provided her with the platform to take over the ownership and management of Hunter Gatherer Consulting, focusing on the acquisition and placement of specialist skills and management across the private and public sectors in South Africa.
Marinda has always enjoyed “stretch challenges” and has a passionate interest in making a difference across the arenas of Talent, executive coaching and winning the war for talent.
Marinda has the track record, appropriate skills-sets as well as personal qualities to connect effectively across the stakeholder continuum – from CEO’s, management teams to individuals and brings her enthusiasm, openness to new learning, possibility thinking and authenticity in all her relationships.
Welcome to my brand new blog! I would like to introduce myself to those who haven’t met me as yet. I am Marinda Gatherer, mother of two beautiful girls, wife of a very supportive husband and always ready to take on a new challenge!
Nannies in Training was Established in 2010 just after the birth of my first little girl. At that stage the mere thought of leaving my precious little bundle of joy with anyone was enough to give me a heart attack! Finding someone off the street was & still is,so dangerous! The ladies I interviewed just weren’t good enough and it took me a while to find the my first “diamond in the rough”! Furthermore times have changed so radically that our nannies also need to be trained in specific skillsets to meet the modern familiy’s needs albeit in cleaning, cooking, washing and child minding & emergency procedures. I had to find a way to assist working moms in finding the right nanny for their little ones so I made it my mission to find the best nannies in Gauteng and find great families for them. Now, nearly 6 years and another baby down the line I have developed core modules to train nannies to be the best they can and have placed wonderful nannies with so many families. It gives me great joy to get feedback from my clients a few years down the line telling me that they are still very happy with their nanny and she is part of the family!
In saying all of that, it’s not always sunshine and roses… there are always a few thorns that are ready to prick you and with time I have learnt to see the signs from the beginning. We get rid of the thorns very quickly which makes all of our lives much easier…
I have such a great vision for Nannies in Training and am so excited about the new chapter on which we are about to embark. About a year ago I opened a branch in Centurion that flourished and is doing SO well , I’ve made the decision to take over Pretoria! We are moving our Centurion branch to a new location near Menlyn shopping centre to make it easily accessible to all, nannies and parents. Just to think all of this started in a garage…
